Residents of Taiwan do not use an ordinary passport visa for mainland China — they travel on the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents (台胞證), issued by mainland authorities.
Travel between Taiwan and mainland China runs through a separate permit system rather than ordinary passport visas. Residents of Taiwan apply for the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents (台胞證, the "Taiwan Compatriot" permit) — available as a multi-year card or an electronic/one-time permit — issued by the mainland authorities. An ordinary Chinese visa (L, M, X, Z, etc.) is generally not the route used for this travel.
